Job Purpose

Higherlife Foundation is seeking the services of a highly experienced and innovations driven individual to ensure that the organisation employs scientific approaches to problem solving and providing thought leadership to internal and external stakeholders. This role will generally drive the internal think tank for the organisation and leading edge approaches to drive different interventions.

Qualifications and Experience
• A Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences, or other relevant discipline
• Possess at least 10-12 years’ working experience with 4 years in a similar position.
• Understands the broader business drivers, with the ability to work collaboratively with key functional areas both inside and outside of the company.
• Highly integrated leader with ability to inspire change throughout the organisation.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Be process oriented with demonstrated ability to develop repeatable processes or improve existing processes in and out of product development.
• Possess good project management skills with demonstrated ability to push projects over the finish line with sound planning and persistent execution.
• Possess an open and collaborative management style and must be comfortable working in an environment where ideas are shared and challenged.
Key Result Areas
• Development of the ResearchKey Result Areas • Development of the Research and Innovation strategy to enable HLF to meet its strategic aims and successfully impleme​_nt programmes in a cost-effective manner.
• In liaison with the CEO and the Co-Chair oversees the development, implementation and review of the Research and Development Strategy to champion and ensure evidence based decision making by the Government in its endeavour to achieve the goals of the SDGs, Vision 2030
• Works with the CEO and the Co-Chair to facilitate harmonisation of efforts by the public, private and local, regional and international Non-Governmental sectors relating to economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection to achieve sustainable development in Zimbabwe and to build an Upper Middle-Income economy.
• Provides supervisory, technical, financial and administrative leadership to all the 5 Pillars of the Foundation in all activities relating to Model development, aligning of activities with the requirements of the SDGs, Government Policies, and priorities as defined in Vision 2030 and Vision 2050.
• Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement for existing ones.
• Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis.
• Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each project.
• Provides advisory services, training and technical assistance to all HLF Departments and Partners in areas of project/programme planning, monitoring and evaluation overseeing the entire development process of new products and programs within an organization, from the initial planning phase to implementation.
• Engages and manages high level stakeholders in Research and Innovation at local, regional and international levels to ensure attainment of the SDG, Vision 2030 and Vision 2050 goals.
• Develops the necessary plan/s to ensure that the Department meets its agreed goals and objectives on a monthly basis, and identifies and agrees key result areas, key objectives/tasks and action plans.
• Prepares the Research and Innovation Department CAPEX and OPEX budget annually.
• Works with partner organisations, government stakeholders and researchers to ensure HLF programmes, strategies, tools and methods remain up to date and aligned to international best practice and Innovation strategy to enable HLF to meet its strategic aims and successfully implement programmes in a cost-effective manner.
