The Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare invites suitably qualified professionals for the following position within the Department of Disabled Persons Affairs.

Station : Head Office, Harare

Duties and Responsibilities 
1. Facilitate the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities through administration of Educational. Vocational and Counselling programmes.
2. Assist in the formulation and development of measures and policies designed to improve the welfare and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities such as inaccessible buildings.
3. Facilitate payment of tuition fees for Vocational Training for Persons with Disabilities through Disability Revolving Loan Facility as well as provide funds to clients wishing to pursue viable income generating projects.
4. Facilitate the payment of per capita grants to private institutions taking care of persons with disabilities.
5. Facilitate the provision of assistive technologies such as wheelchairs, crutches, lotions for persons with albinism and spectacles, amongst others.
6. Administer and run Institutions as Centres for a MSEC and HEXCO examinations for persons with disabilities.
7. Supervise the implementation of programmes to improve targeting of persons with disabilities and their integration into the mainstream economy.
8. Network and liaise with other Government Ministries, International NGOs and private organisations that handle issues pertaining to people with disabilities.

Qualifications. Experience and Attributes

– A Degree in Social Work
 Should be registered with the Council of Social Workers.
• A post Graduate Diploma or relevant Master’s Degree would be an added advantage

 A minimum of 2 years at Principal Social Welfare Officer level or 8 years relevant experience
Thorough understanding of National and International Regulations on persons with disabilities
