WANTED IS PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER

MASVINGO City Council

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced people to fill the vacant post of Public Relations Officer in the Town Clerk’s Office and reporting to the Town Clerk.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Handling all aspects of planned publicity campaigns and Public Relations activities in conjunction with all Heads of Departments.
b) Rebranding City of Masvingo.
c) Promoting the good will and positive image of Council.
d) Managing the Council’s communications, risk and opportunities with different Clients and Stakeholders.
e) Initiate and Organize promotional events such as press conference, open days exhibitions, tours and visits.
f) Being the spokesperson for Council including attending to complaints and damage control.
g) Developing a media relations strategy.
h) Designing, writing and or producing presentations press releases, articles, leaflets, in house journals, reports publicity brochures and information for websites.
i) Arranging all consultative meetings.
j) Attending to exhibitions and presenting Council interests.
k) Prepare monthly and annual reports for the Town Clerk.
I) Manning and updating the Council websites and all social media interactions.
m)Any other duties as may be assigned by the Town Clerk.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

a) Degree in Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Media or related field.
b) A Master’s Degree or Higher qualification will be an added advantage.
c) Clean class 4 drivers licence a must.
d) Should be proficient in at least three languages preferably English, Shona and Ndebele.
e) At least 3 years post qualification experience in Public relations

f) Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Local Authority environment is an added advantage
