Duties and main responsibilities of the Driver

  • Operates a passenger motor vehicle in accordance with the Zimbabwean law;
  • Supervise and monitor vehicle checks and maintenance as per COSPE standards, and coordinate with the car rental supplier for all necessary maintenance and repairs;
  • Ensure the proper and timely ordering, dispatch, use and follow-up of fuel cards;
  • repare the monthly Fuel Follow-up and monitors vehicle consumption, alert in case of any discrepancy or anomaly;
  • Prepare of the monthly fuel and car rental invoices;
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly equipped as per COSPE standards (safety items, tools…),and have all necessary and up to date documentation (registration, rental contract, insurance certificate, logbook…);
  • Report formally any incident, misuse or damage to the vehicles to the direct Supervisor;
  • Monitor the use of vehicles (consumption, mileage, maintenance, damages, administrative compliance);
  • Quickly notify supervisor about any major repairs and maintenance needed on vehicle;
  • Maintains vehicle in clean and serviceable condition and performs minor maintenance of a preventative nature;
  • Maintain an accurate vehicle log book for all trips;
  • Perform daily inspection of vehicle including tire pressure, oil and water levels;
  • May deliver documents and conduct general business on behalf of the company including basic negotiation skills;
  • Perform general clerical duties, to include but not be limited to photocopying, scanning, faxing, filing, and mailing;
  • Represent the project, and Cospe with professional behavior and communication skills in a diplomatic manner

Mandatory requirements

  • Must be familiar with local traffic laws and area traffic patterns;
  • Must possess Valid Class 4 Driving Licence;
  • Defensive driving certificate;
  • At least 5 years’ driving experience working for cooperation development projects;
  • Good understanding of roads and road conditions in areas of operation;
  • Excellent knowledge of English;
  • Excellent knowledge of Shona;
  • Personal Commitment and high level of integrity;
  • Sharing of the COSPE mission, values, codes of conduct

Preferential requirements

  • Mechanic qualification and experience;
  • High school certificate
