Green Climate Fund (GCF) National Designated Authority (NDA) Readiness National Consultant Advert

Expected Starting Date – 1 May 2019

The Government of Zimbabwe submitted its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and ratified the Paris Agreement in September 2016. In so doing, the country committed to implementing various climate change mitigation actions, strategies or policies that result in the reduction in greenhouse gases emissions, keeping temperature rise to below 1.5oC and pursuing low carbon development and climate resilient pathways.

In view of the country’s climate resilient developmental aspirations and susceptibility to multiple climate change challenges that include erratic rainfall, perennial floods, recurrent droughts, pollution, deforestation, land degradation, veld fires, Zimbabwe developed a National Climate Policy, a National Climate Change Response Strategy and nominated National Designated Authority to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Furthermore, the Government of Zimbabwe applied for GCF NDA readiness funds under the Project entitled “Building Capacity of Zimbabwe National Designated Authority to engage with the Green Climate Fund”. The ‘GCF NDA Readiness Project’ requires the services of a National Consultant who will manage the project under the guidance and direction of the Project Management Unit (PMU)on behalf of the Ministry.

The objectives of the contract are to;
1. Support capacity building activities of the G CF NDA and other key national institutions;
2. Support the development of a strategic framework for national engagement with the GCF; and
3. Support the development of a country programme.

Scope of Work, Expected Outputs, Competencies, Qualification and Work Experience
The consultants will work with the GCF National Project Management Unit (PMU), team of international and national experts as well as the National Steering Committee.
